He drove me home and laid me on the couch where I just relaxed and came down from the crazy caffeine high.
I would be okay, but I was really scared.
Let me back up and tell you how we got there.
My friend Dan is a great guy and helped me (my name is Ian by the way) get into working out. One day he decided we should use pre-workout to help get us going.
I am a gym newbie, but I trust Dan. So, I drank it, thinking it was just some type of Gatorade or other sports drink.
Nope, it’s designed to help you get motivated and work harder at the gym.
I am also sensitive to caffeine. It is not Dan’s fault; he did not know I only drink decaf coffee and avoid Starbucks espresso like the plague.
I simply needed to find the best non-caffeine pre-workout that would get me the pumps and energy boosts I needed. Thankfully, there are lots of people like me, and lots of great options you can enjoy.
Some people cannot have caffeine because it gives them the jitters, makes them hallucinate, increases their heart rate, and even changes up your alertness, to name a few reasons.
Besides, there are advantages to a stim-free pre-workout.
- You don’t have to deal with the crash when it wears off.
- Work out with no jitters.
- You can focus better – you won’t be focused on your heart rate, amount of sweating, or any other side effects.

Okay, now onto the good stuff.
This is my list that I’ve compiled after shopping around and trying some of these out.
I like the idea of pre-workout, but not everybody can have such an easy time with it!
Don’t worry, like Superman I have flown in and saved the day with some suggestions that will have you running, lifting, stretching and playing like a pro.
1. Pump Surge Stim-Free Pre-workout
One look at this container and you can already feel the “GRRR!” coming.
What I mean by that is you just know this is going to give you that huge energy boost that makes you feel like you can lift the heaviest barbells and run the fastest mile you ever had.

I opted for the Fruit Punch flavor, which was nice and did not overpower my taste buds.
This definitely does not feel caffeine free…

The secret is in the blend.

Okay, cotton candy is a pleasant smell and a very nice flavor, reminds me of those carefree days at the school carnival.
But we’ve moved on from those days and now I like the smell of the gym a little better.
That’s probably the weirdest thing you’ve heard today, but in all seriousness, this is also a pretty good blend.
If you’re into stacking your supplements, this one is a perfect stacker.
I did not need to take this only at certain times of day (the N.O. stuff was good for the evening, for instance), so you can take this stuff at night and still be able to fall asleep.
It’s great for the mornings too-just gets you ready to work.
Cellular hydration and NO are superbly increased thanks to there being 4 grams of L-Citrulline included in the mix.
This is two times the amount you normally get in pre-workout and add that in with the other great ingredients like Arginine Nitrate and Hydromax Glycerol among others-and you’re ready to slay that workout.
I know how the ingredients work, but I personally did not feel a great pump on this one.
Happy consumers say otherwise, but I am just relaying my personal experience with this product.
6. Legion Pulse Caffeine Free Pre Workout for Men and Women
Well after that last pre-workout, this one kind of pales in comparison.
I mean, this one does a good job, but that last one was a tough act to follow. Anyways, this one has a good fruit punch flavor, and is not too sweet.
You can look forward to good old standbys in this pre-workout like L-Citrulline, betaine, Alpha GPC and Beta Alanine.
I could definitely tell that my endurance was in a good place when I used this particular pre-workout. So, the blend is decent and does what it should.
Another great thing is that this particular blend is made of ingredients that are 100% natural, and the lack of stimulants keeps the jitters and the heart-racing at bay.
You will still feel a good pump, especially from the levels of citrulline malate of this caffeine free pre-workout.
For you beginners out there, I recommend you just do one scoop of this stuff.
That’s enough for a basic workout, but if you are an experienced athlete and do serious workouts every day, 2 scoops will get you by.
If you are really tired, use 2 scoops. Remember this stuff does bring energy in a healthy way-so if you need sleep monitor your dosage.

The ingredients in this are going to make you ready to hit the gym. It’s a great one for all you beginners out there.
This will boost up your energy and make your performance the best it can be. Even though those first few workouts will be hard, this will help you newbies get through it.
This is another one that is easy to stack or use with other supplements. You can also use this at night, and still fall asleep easily.
It is very versatile in its blend and won’t keep you awake.
8. Shiner Nitro Caffeine Free Nitric Oxide Pre Workout
Now I really liked the taste and the feeling I got when I used this particular product.
My other friend, Rich, got me to try this particular pre-workout.
This guy works 14-hour days and still is interested in getting fit. So, he needed a pre-workout that wasn’t going to keep him up after those workdays.
This stuff was great. They increased his focus, he stated, and helped him get out of bed and into the workout. Then, after a shower and change of clothes, he was ready to get to work.
He states this stuff was perfect for getting him up and going without the crazy jitters coffee brings.
I think this stuff would be good for all you runners out there.
That’s what Rich is all about running and lifting some weights here and there. He said his heart rate went down and his runs were easier-so endurance was increased.
This one stacks well with other Sheer Nitro products. So, if you are interested in stacking, this is going to be your ticket.

You know, even if you DON’T have any caffeine problems, you should really consider picking up one of these great pre-workouts.
Reason being is what if you have to work out in the evening? You don’t want to be up long after that workout is over.
The blend in this particular pre-workout promises some great stuff.
Creatine MagnaPower binds creatine to magnesium and makes it less prone to breakdown in the stomach. This means creatine’s intake is maximized in the body.

I really liked this particular pre-workout.
The only thing that I did not care for about this particular blend is that even though I shook my blender bottle pretty well, it seemed to not mix so great. That was kind of hard to choke down.
The flavor was okay. All in all, this one was fine for what you got. The focus stays with you even after your workout.
10. GAT PMP Stimulant Free Blue Raspberry
First and foremost, I want to warn all of you that the stim free variety of this is the Blue Raspberry.
Don’t accidentally buy the other flavors and end up with a product that you cannot use.
I think this thing tastes pretty good but a look at the ingredients label shows me that the dosages are kind of low for what you should be getting.
I can definitely feel it when I take the pre-workout, but I think if your body gets used to it might be useless.
Also, I found that this one blended pretty poorly. I mean, I shook that bottle hard! But the clumps were real.
Of course, it’s not all bad. Plenty of other users really liked this. My friend Dan thought it was fine. I think it is fine to use in a pinch if you need a bit of a boost for an intermediate workout.
I would personally NOT use this for a very intense workout.
Plus, if you still like to have your coffee in the morning, this is a great way to have that without having too much caffeine.
You still get the energy you need-it is just not as pronounced as the other forms of stim free pre workouts.
